Criminal Defense Attorney
Our criminal defense attorneys have successfully represented Ohio clients for nearly three decades. Our lead criminal defense attorney, Gregory B. Mathews, is a former prosecutor for the City of Columbus, former special prosecutor for Columbus, and experienced criminal defense lawyer. Attorney Mathews has been able to draw upon his background from both sides of the criminal justice system to provide successful defense in hundreds of cases. If you or someone you know has been arrested, charged, or accused of a criminal offense, then you will appreciate our honest, practical legal advice from our skilled team of lawyers.
The effects of a criminal charge can leave a permanent scar on your record for the rest of your life. Do not delay in hiring an experienced criminal defense lawyer who can protect your rights from the very beginning of your case. As a former prosecutor, Greg knows how the police and the prosecutors construct their case against you. As a result, he can focus his investigation and research to perform the best defense against their strategies. All of our law firm attorneys are admitted to practice law in Ohio and Federal Court. Further, the attorneys in our firm are members of various associations and organizations, including:
- The American Bar Association
- The National Lawyer’s Association
- The Ohio State Bar Association
- The Columbus Bar Association
- The Westerville Bar Association

There are three general categories of criminal offenses in Ohio: 1) Felony charges are the most serious, which may have penalties that can include a term in state prison; 2) Misdemeanor charges have penalties that may include up to six months in jail (or longer if convicted of multiple offenses); and 3) Minor Misdemeanors are the least serious offenses (typically traffic offenses) for which the maximum penalty not to exceed a $150 dollar fine but may include lengthy driver’s license suspensions.
Don’t take any criminal charge lightly, they can carry jail time, expensive fines, loss of freedoms, license suspensions, and burdensome requirements of probation. A criminal conviction can limit your future career and professional opportunities.
